I thought there were so many decisions for the ref to make yesterday it was
inevitable that he would annoy one of the two teams. Also it didn't help the
number of times players from both sides feigned injury and tried to get
opposition players booked. I think we had 4 alleged deliberate elbows and
numerous calls for free kicks and penalties - take Becchio's two pitiful
attempts late on to try and get something for nothing. The ref didn't buy it
and in general he kept his cards in his pocket except for the obvious incidents
like when McCartney pulled back a Pompey player. In general I thought he did ok
, there was an extraordinary number of free kicks. If anything I thought his
linesman were poor and didn't help him at all.
