I think the current promotion/relegation setup is very good. However, any
expansion of the playoffs beyond the current number would adversely dilute the
league season. I also like that the relegated teams don't get some sort of
playoff lifeline at the end of their crappy/failed league season. You're in the
bottom three you're down.
Another emotional benefit is the league playoff system allows the supporters of
many teams a chance to experience a Wembley "final" day out, because let's be
honest most of these lower league teams never did and never will make the FA or
League Cup finals. There has to be a Leeds joke in there somewhere....
