guillotine IMHO :-)

The guillotine was invented to make executions more human for all.
Depending on how low or high you were on the social "scale" a death warrant
was executed
in different manners. The most horrific ones were saved for peasants.
Aristocrats got beheaded, nice
and swift as opposed to be attached to 4 horses that would rip you to
pieces.

So the guillotine was a "democratic" tool.
