Not sure I expect him to have a positive balance actually, all teams start with loads more tyro's to end up with a few successes, either from buying or via the academy. probably only 1% of academy Lads ever get a first team start? so, say he brings in 20 players. I'd be happy with, say 5 Better, 5 as good, and 10 worse. It's a risky business. Obviously Wenger had (up until recently) a rep to improve young players, but who knows how many were lost on the way to dozen or so obvious success stories. Max, Snoddy, Connolly, Sam, Clayton, from the market and Lees, White, Thompson from the academy have, to my mind, improved in the last 3 years. IMHO the big problem has been players coming in on loan - getting a good deal on the back of a few decent performances - then getting immediately crocked (kisnorbo & Naylor) or turning shite (O'Brien) _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate
