Ok now you have confused me Mark. We seem to agree that all clubs need to generate revenue on more than just match days, To my mind that revenue (or at least the profits) should then go to Leeds United Football Club - with the emphasis on football. You seem to be arguing that the revenue should be re-invested in the branch of the business that generates it - for example the restaurant Surely if that is the case then the football club is not in fact generating any revenue on non match days- just the hotel , the pubs, the restaruauts / the radio station and it is being re-invested in the hotel, pubs, restaurant, radio station and not the football club ? The former need to make a profit but would, I expect, go into the "match day takings" pot. The conference centre is non-match day and should remain separate and distinct. Same for any hotel. And I would also want their profits go towards improving their product and generating more revenue - not to open up franchises/branches elsewhere. I believe the business model is simply to ensure the club has revenue streams throughout the year, not just on match days during the season. The business model is not to expand beyond Elland Rd I don’t think? -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of DAVID NATTAN Sent: 19 January 2012 20:21 To: list leedslist Subject: Re: [LU] Leedslist Digest, Vol 19, Issue 50 I suspect you are in a very small minority with this view Mark, As far as I and I think most other fans think , the Leeds United subsidiaries - Billys Bar, Howards Way, Yorkshire Radio etc etc are not real businesses in their own right. They exist purely and simply to raise funds for Leeds United football team.If Bates or anyone else wants a pub / restaurant / conference centre / radio station, then fair enough BUT if it is coming under the Leeds United banner then it should help finance the football team. Mark - presumably even you would not be happy to see , for example Billys Bar doing really well and opening branches all through the country whilst Leeds United FC goes to the wall and ceases to exist ? We ARE different from most other businesses - if Tesco lose money on the supermarket side and make money from the insurance business then the shareholders may still be happy, and ultimately may close the supermarket business and become just an insurance company with no harm done if profits to Tesco are at a decent level. I repeat, it is no use to me for Ken Bates to have the worlds greatest restaurant franchise business if Leeds United do not existDave- -- On Thu, 19/1/12, Mark Humphries <[email protected]> wrote: It's a business. And there is no point milking any subsidiaries causing them to fail. Once they are generating supernormal profits, then it can have those. -- _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] PETE CASS (1962 - 2011) Rest In Peace Mate
