As much as I loathe Bates as a Human Being and as a businessman I don't believe he is in it to destroy Leeds United or it's fans. He wants to a) sell what he owns for more than he paid for it b) feel like he has put one over on everyone else by getting more than it is worth. He has a chip the size of the HMS Ark Royal on his shoulder and has been driven by that throughout his life, all that matters to him is Money and a feeling or superiority over us mere motals.
