Brendan,
Your answer is the epitome of 'missing the point'! The
"argument" is that it appears the only way of actually defeating beautiful
football is by playing anti football. Spain and barca's passing IS indeed a
thing of footballing beauty, almost an art form. I too love to watch it (I've
said personally for years now I prefer La Liga to the Prem in pure footballing
terms. But excitement? That's they key. I've been to some absolutely brilliant,
awesome, technically brilliant, atmospherically superb gigs ... And then the
drum solo has kicked in! Neil Pert's was a particularly impressive one,
technically one of the finest I've EVER seen. Precision, timing, accuracy,
technique all flawless. But ultimately boring!
