Took in the Charlton U23 v LUFC U23 game today.
Quite a tetchy game in very difficult windy conditions. Huffer saved us a couple of times but much of the game was contested in midfield. The standout impression was of Carlos Corberan who was constantly shouting instructions, largely in Spanish, and clearly wanted maximum effort. He was strong on criticism but didn’t seem great on positive encouragement. Weirdly he called the players by their surnames throughout the game. His half time ‘talk’ could just about be heard outside the dressing rooms – though it was played at a small non-league ground – Greenwich Borough. I managed a brief chat with Tom Pearce (had a good game) at the end and when I enquired about the constant shouting/berating from the touchline he pulled a rather bemused face.
