Totally agree re level of football - this was the point made by Eoghan Stokes
the other week that I quoted when he left us to join a team in Ireland so he
'did not have to play fake football' any moreIt is hard to know what to do
about the team below the first team- u23s has some good points but it can also
slow development when they never play against experience old heads, but old
style reserve football also had weaknesses, often the game was played at half
pace since it was a mixture of players coming back from injury and taking it
easy plus others who were totally out of favour with the manager and did not
care, coupled with players trying their best to impress or youngsters trying to
fight their way up the rankings
The fact still remains that this season is pretty much over and therefore
everything we do should be about getting things ready for next time and that
should, in my opinion, include giving the best of the u23s prospects a go in
the first team - a sink or swim approach, although I can understand the
caution, throwing a kid into a poor team bereft of confidence could ruin their
career

I watched it too and was impressed at times however it was clear that this
level of football is way off championship level.
