Pretty much , yes. For instance once Lassogga came on Roofe dropped into the 3
behind the front man rather than joining Lassogga up top.The 3 behind the front
man do move around a lot and are interchangeable but we are basically playing
the same formation as got found out last year under Monk. That is why the 2
defensive midfielders are often overrunI did think following the comments
attributed to him in his interview for the job that TC would be much more
adaptable especially since he was supposedly a strict 4 4 2 man at his previous
job.
We do have to remember that he is totally inexperience in terms of Championship
football and is not that experienced as a manager overall so is still learning
his trade.
There is also the feeling around ER amongst fans (certainly the ones I speak to
) that this season is just one to lay the foundations for a real promotion push
next time, but we could be totally wrong in that idea. TO me it is very hard to
plan for the future in this way in our Division since any decent player is
always likley to leave for a Prem team (see Byram, Cook, and more recently Wood
and Taylor) How long will it be before Saiz or Pontus or maybe even Vieirra are
approached by a lower Prem team and find the lure too tempting (and who can
blame them ?)
TO me, IF we can find the players who can give us that bit more quality and
ensure we make the play offs we MUST go for them - poor January windows
prevented us in the past from really making the most of a good first half of
the season, but I do worry that this January will be no different and that the
Japanese lad who cannot play till next season (and even that depends on how
Japan fare in the FIFA rankings and how many games he plays for them) will be
the only addition

Cheers, Dave.  Thanks as always for the reports.  Am I right in thinking
TC always plays the 4-2-3-1 formation? Is there any indication that the
team is switching formations in the games?
