I think we are making steady progress year on year, in spite of losing the manager at the 11th hour in the summer. True it is a bit galling that we have not really been able to replace Taylor, Bartley and Wood who all understandably went to the Premier League when that had the chance. The finances available mean that right now even Burnley and Bournemouth have the pick of all championship players if they want them. It is even true in the Premiership for teams outside the top 6, if one of them takes a fancy to a player. However, despite losing all the above, we are doing just as well as last season. The football is by and large pretty good. In Saiz we have a player who is as good as any we have seen in the past 15 years, and there is more strength in depth than last year, even if some of the 1st choice players are not quite as good. Last year the lack of reinforcements in certain areas cost the team in the run-in. If we can get 2 or 3 additions this January, and send some of the unwanted players on loan, I'm confident of getting into the play-offs, and given the nature of this league it then becomes a complete lottery as to who goes up.
