Worryingly, we seem to be developing into a team that always plays just
below the standard of the opposition. Even so, I think if any 2 out of
James, Gnonto & Okafor had been playing we'd have won this comfortably. It
was bad luck that our two best chances fell to the two useless "sons" we
had on our wings. I saw a big puff piece about Harrison being so dedicated
he took himself off to Spain in the break to work with his own personal
coach (an American!) I don't know what they worked on, but it clearly
wasn't volleying.

Another little gripe: the first goal was appallingly slack from us all
round, but I do think that if long throws are now such a thing it behooves
the bloody linesman to make sure they are taken from the correct spot.
Walker's first throw was launched from a good 10 yds up the touchline from
where the ball went out.

It is a weird thing that certain teams seem to suddenly become bogey sides.
Soton under Martin were one, and this loathsome mob from Lancs seem to be
the latest. That's 3 games now against them where we've been comfortably
the better side but we've had 2 losses and a draw and zero goals. I still
think we'll finish above them though, just like we did last year. I just
hope it's not 19th & 20th!
