Oh dear - another year older and Rich still hasn't learned to read the mail before he types the riposte.

Only a fool or an imbicile would summarise a season this early - I summarised Blackwell's transfer's Rich - not quite the same thing. - but to detail - exactly which observation on Douglas was 'well wide of the mark' - I'm afraid I can't just take your word for it. Are you disputing his stamina? His goals? Please let me know....

You claim that Blackwells tactics are exactly the same this season as last - in what way exactly? Perhaps you'd like it better if we didn't score set pieces from goals - but hang on - I seem to recall in the dim and distant past one R.Walker plaintively crying 'When was the last goal we scored from a set piece?'. I agree it can and should be better, but it's obvious even to the armchair listers that we are not utilising the same tactics as last year.

Setting aside the sport of dismantling Rich's efforts at rational debate for a moment - it seems to me that Blackwell has made strenuous efforts to address the areas everyone agreed were weak - he is playing Kilgallon regularly (despite howlers that had they been comitted by Gregan would have had Rich behaving like a man who has just imbibed a bottle of draino). The sale of Hulse was not Blackwell's doing, neither was the sending off of Horsefield.

Rich, it's way too early in the season to start claiming 'I told you so' though I concede that you will eventually be proved right since all managers are sacked sooner or later - but let's change the record - have you any ideas about how the team we have - with the injuries and suspensions we have, can be deployed to get say 6 points this month? - personally I don't think we'll do it, but I do think that the team has shown some potential and that once the injury crisis is over we will deliver some good, entertaining football. Much more than that I can't honestly say - so put your credibility on the line - let's hear how you would do it (and please don't just say 'sack Blackwell').

On the Blackwell out issue - I think he has bought
quality into the squad,
he has so far been deprived of the luxury of a
settled first team, but from
what I have seen, Westlake is a step up from Miller,
Carole is a proper ball
playing winger with some considerable pace, Foxe
looks like an improvement
on Gregan. Nicholls is exactly the type of player we
need and I suspect will
galvanise the team once he's fit. Healy is playing
well this season, but
isn't yet on the same wavelength as the wingers -
against Wednesday several
balls went across the box, on the ground while Healy
loitered on the edge -
that understanding will come. So Blackwell in for me
- there are no real
alternatives for the moment. What will be
interesting though is watching Roy
Keane at Sunderland - he'd certainly sort out the
Bakke issue pretty damn
quick!

No worries Chris - we've got you firmly camped in the
Blackwell in camp. One of those blind followers who
thought he was worth another chance this year. We'll
see :)

Your comments on Douglas are well wide of the mark and
your summing up of the season seemed to consist of
comparisons such as 'Westlake is better than Miller',
'Healy is now playing well up front' etc etc but in
reality that's not how Blackwell is to be judged. The
football has been poor - we are still relying on set
pieces to create chances and score goals and whilst we
have seen better players come in to the club the
tactics from Blackwell are the same.
