The International Workshop on Green Alliance s for Sustainable Development
toward Rio +10 critiqued the Rio UN Conference on Environment and
Development held in 1992, and looked at approaches for Non-government
organisations and Green Parties for the follow up meeting in Johannesburg,
South Africa. More than 5000 activists from around the world attended this
conference

Global Greens Conference
Greens from nearly 70 countries attended the first Global Greens gathering
held in Canberra over the easter weekend. They developed a better
networking and support system for each other especially in areas which it
was politically difficult and personally dangerous to be Green. A Global
Green Charter descibing common gaols aspired to by all Green Parties was
also ratified. It was also a time for representatives ofcountries from the
richer income countries or countroies of the North to listen to the reps
from the "South" or poorer countries=20
