Christopher, The install.log file most of the time is not missing. The messages says "The install.log file cannot be opened" or something like that. It's a problem with the uninstaller and we believe it's been fixed in the latest build.
However uninstalling is not required for the repair of Error 5..... You just need to delete the .usr files and then reinstall with the most recent build of Legacy v7 (or the final build if you're using an earlier version of Legacy). No registry edit is needed. With Legacy closed, go to the c:\Legacy folder on your hard drive. Delete the install.log file. Then go to the c:\Legacy\Backup folder and delete any files there with the word "install" in the file name. Reinstall Legacy with the latest build from our website and you should have no problem uninstalling Thanks for using Legacy. She told me to uninstall and reinstall. I tried this, but I continued to have this problem. It got to the point where I did not use Legacy on my main computer, and just used it on a separate machine in my bedroom. Since that time, I have once again subscribed to the UG and noticed that many people were trying to uninstall/reinstall and finding that the program would not reinstall because of the missing install file. That appears to be my problem, and from what I understand, the fix requires some editing in the registry files. Can anyone tell me what this fix is? Thanks much.
