I use township only for individuals who lived in rural areas, and then I use it in place of the town/city. So I would enter:
Colfax Twp., Harrison Co., Missouri As Kirsten mentioned, since I use the right to left sort on my locations list, this allows my place list to read, for example: Missouri, Harrison Co., Colfax Twp. Missouri, Harrison Co., Eagleville Missouri, Harrison Co., Marion Twp. Missouri, Harrison Co., Ridgeway etc. It would work the same way if I added the country.
