Here is a golden oldie from 2001... >Requiring a password that is sent to an e-mail address: > >1. Let's us count the number of unique individuals downloading. >2. Let's us add those who download to our Legacy News subscribers list. >3. Tells us that a Legacy30.exe or Update30.exe is out-of-date (an old >"build') when the current password does not work. > >Since the program is free, a password is a small price to pay. > >Thanks, > >Jim Terry >Millennia Corporation >http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com
That was Jim's story back then. It seems to me like you can get #1 from the web server logs with a simple perl script. In fact, a perl script would probably be more accurate. I don't think #2 applies anymore since users use the web form to subscribe and unsubscribe to the various Legacy lists. So that leaves #3. -- Dennis Kowallek (LTools) http://zippersoftware.com/ltools http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ltools Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp
