If you open the individual's screen where you see the name, birth, death, 
events, etc., there is an icon to the right of the name - three overlaid 
people.  If you click on this, you get a screen where you can add alternate 
names.  Click add and you can enter the first, last, middle, and any preceding 
or following titles.  Alternately, if you add an event, one of the event types 
is AKA.  While they seem to give you the same information, I don't know if the 
program offers special functionality for one or the other that would make it 
more advantageous to use one or the other.

Does that make sense?
