I agree with you. Not withstanding the Source Templates and the 'standards'
on which they are based I have not, and will not, duplicate information for
the same individual. If I  have John Smith's christening at Manchester
Cathedral on 25 Dec 1841 as an Event, I will not repeat this in a source .
Like you, I have better things to do with my time than spending it
duplicating information. If the source of the information is the Cathedral's
Parish Register then my source will say from the Parish Register, when I
accessed it, where I viewed it, and the page number. Taken together the
event details and Source Details give a full description.
