Thank you everyone for your comments and ideas on this topic.  I feel
I will go with recording the name firstly as I find it the way it was
first recorded either parish register or census and record any
differences after that as an altenate name.

This was my first post and I received back to my own email address 5
copies of this posting.  I do not know why and I hope that no one else
received this post 5 times, if so I apologies but I have no idea how
it happened.
