Hi all I have been running Legacy Standard for several years on a Compaq Pentium computer running Windows XP SP2 with virus protection etc. The current version is 7.4.0.45. I have a database of around 10000 individuals. For Source Citations I have a Master Source list (eg “UK 1851 Census”) and the Detail field will be the individual reference (eg “HO107-456 F12 P8”).
Recently, some Details have been disappearing, overwritten with an apparently random single letter or, occasionally, a detail being used to update another unrelated record. It is difficult to gauge the size of the problem as, as far as I know, I cannot view Detail lists. I have tried Check/Repair but the problem persists. Is the best solution to Export to a new Legacy file, or to install a fresh version of Legacy and use a Backup copy, or will these just transfer the same problem to the new database?
