Hi all, To (hopefully) complete this thread, I have now heard back from Legacy Technical Help, who state;
"Thank you for sending your family file backup. I can see the problems in your family file, but I don't have a clue as to the cause. There are no other reports of this happening to other Legacy users. The errors will have to be manually corrected one record at a time. There is something that you can do to prevent this kind of record scrambling: periodic File Maintenance - Check/Repair. Most Legacy users never do File Maintenance except when they see error messages. I think of this like never checking the fluid levels in your car until the engine light comes on. I recommend doing File Maintenance - Check/Repair on a weekly basis, if not more often. For example, I do it before and after any kind of import and before and after merging duplicate records". So there we are. I can only hope that re-inserting the leaked/corrupted data doesn't have a knock-on effect to other records.
