Kathy,

(1) To get your Master Sources to reappear in Legacy on tyour netbook click
on View on the menu bar and select Master Lists > Source. Next remove the
check marks from any of the boxes in the 'Show Only' area below the Help
button on the right side of the screen. Once you do this, all of your
sources will display.
 (2) Backing up and restoring is an excellent way of moving your family
file to your netbook. Just backup in Legacy on the first PC and restore
the family file in Legacy on the netbook. It makes a perfect copy --
nothing lost! Make sure to install Legacy on the second PC before you
begin. For detailed backup and restore guidance with helpful screen shots

Subject: [LegacyUG] Master sources - 2 computers in use.

I've a feeling that I've had this problem before but unfortunately don't
remember the answer.... I have Legacy running on both a home computer and
on a netbook. I just backed the file up from the main computer and copied
the zip file to the netbook. I can get the file to open but notice that
for some reason the master source records are nearly all missing from the
database on the netbook. Should I have used Export rather than using a zip
file? How best can I get both computers with the same version of the
database so that when I am away from home I can do input on the netbook -
then update the main computer? I store images in the pictures
subdirectory under Legacy and know that I need to copy newly added info to
the other computer's comparable directory. I do the back up for media
files but find it rather labour intensive to transfer things from there
because my Pictures are further sub directoried by family name. Any ideas
on how I can get the sources back so that I don't have to re-enter them on
the netbook would be appreciated. With ~5500 individuals I probably have
700 sources -- many of them used repeatedly. Thanks in advance Kathy
