Ron: I am using the most current Legacy 7

Ward: My file names are as you indicate.

I have not as yet saved all my Legacy file versions as backup files. I
have been trying to use one set of files for transfer before I go about
making a bigger mess than I have now. The one set of files that I transferred
to a flash drive are not seen because Legacy is searching for .fdb files.
Mine as you pointed out are .zip. I have tried saving them as a bulk
transfer of all files to my hard drive. This seems to have given me more
access
to them. I have imported two and made them a separate name and will begin
merging duplicates after inspecting the records to see if non duplicated
information is now included. If this works I will bring the rest of the
files over to one computer make changes and then restore that file on all
machines with updated Legacy. I will report soon on whether I was successful.

Ron, I think the filename format is dependent on your local computer
date/time setup. A good thing. You happen to be using 24 hour time. My
files
look like "walker 2010-10-27 3.12.06 PM.zip".

Stuart, I haven't totally followed this thread, but if you have several
different databases each saved in backup format, here is one way. Restore
each backup into a separate Legacy database (.fdb Family File). Legacy
should update old versions to the latest. You can edit these separately to
fix up things, like pruning out branches, fixing locations, etc. Then
choose
one as the main file and start merging each of the others into it. (Import
>From >> Legacy File...). Make lots of backups before major steps.

Stuart,

Which version of Legacy are you using?

Legacy7 uses the following format for its back-up: "Ferguson 2010-11-01
13.00.45.zip"

All I can suggest, is, as I think I suggested before, to try and open it
Using File>Restore Family File and follow the instructions. please let us
know the outcome. Do not give it the same name as an existing file.

After gnashing of teeth and now being really bald, I believe that the PM in
my file names is the time of day that the file was backed up, since the
files have the date and time saved. Still wondering how to merge these
files
with multiple versions of Legacy files into one that is the most current
version file.

"PM" is the file name. "zip" is the file extension.
