"partner" could mean lots of things.  Do you happen to still have the
original email?

Also, with regards to Legacy and LDS Familysearch.org; this may not be the
issue you are running into but it doesn't work for me either.  However, the
reason it doesn't work is because (as I understand it) the current version
of Legacy only works with the New Familysearch.org (
https://new.familysearch.org).  However, currently that version of their
site is only open to LDS members and it not yet open to the general public.
Right now, the website just reads

*"General public.* Look for a future announcement when you will have access
to new.familysearch.org."  It's been that way for at least a couple of
months now.

Some additional information on new.familysearch.org:
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/affiliates/index.html   You will note that
Legacy is on their list so hopefully good things are coming.
