I don't like them either because some websites make you call in to cancel and 
then they pressure you to not cancel.  Ancestry.com used to do this when they 
first started, but now allow you to do it online.  I don't know anything about 
FamilyLink.  I usually forget to call in and then get charged again.  I also 
don't have much time to research because I'm still cleaning up a GEDCOM import 
to Legacy from over a year ago.

Sadly, as with any of these sites which offer a "free" trial, you have
to give them your credit card info and jump to cancel real quick
before your card gets charged.  I'm not a big fan of "free trials"
being offered this way but they all seem to do that....
