Roy,

Whereas I may differ from you regarding the value of the the old Family Group
Sheets, as far as I know, it is correct to say that they were user submitted
and (like all extracted data) need to be treated with some caution. In fact all
extracted data should be verified from as many sources as possible.

The IGI is, however, different in that it specified whether the data was
extracted by their members, in which case it is likely to be more accurate than
data extracted by others. It is also my understanding that the IGI, which was
still available when I last looked, is separate from the indexing which was
done by volunteers such as myself.

I am unsure as to whether or not FS will ever attach the original images to the
extracted data and as somebody else said (Kathy?) one indexing is compared
with that compiled by another indexer of the same sheet and any variances
resolved by an adjudicator.

Ron,

Since all the info from the old IGI is going into the new Family Search it has
a direct connection to it.
the NFS should *only* contain extracted data-period.

User submitted Family Group Sheets simply are not evidence, and thus have no
place in a Database of genealogical records.

Whilst the old IGI may be still be available, I suspect that it has little or
no connection with the new Family Search.
