I have been watching this for a while now. And quite frankly I disagree. Yes, the family group sheets on LDS and on Ancestry is up to the person who is research, weather they accept what they see is fact or fiction, however, when someone submits their family tree, to whatever site it may be, there is some truth in it, but, for the one researching it, you need to follow through and see if it is fact not fiction. Don’t expect someone that has done the research before to be 100% accurate. Check for yourself if it is true or not. I have for years look at online trees, but if I can’t follow it I do not add it to my tree. But it is a good source as far as breaking down a brick wall if you can follow to prove that the information is correct. For example, if grandma tells you her aunts middle name is Esques or whatever, if you can’t prove it in a document don’t put it in your tree.

User submitted Family Group Sheets simply are not evidence, and thus have no place in a Database of genealogical records. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ron Ferguson" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, January 18, 2011 6:45:08 PM Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] It's official - Legacy 7.5 is now available Whilst the old IGI may be still be available, I suspect that it has little or no connection with the new Family Search.
