I had the same problem. This is the post that got me where I needed to be (first options - customize - colors as stated) THEN I read this and it worked
"Lisa, When you get to the Colors tab, click where it says “Click here to change the user interface colors”. In the next window about the middle where it says “Text colors” click on Contents and select which ever color bar you want.
