There are some really good reasons why you should leave data fields blank when you don't have any information to enter..
1. Search icon has a "Missing Information" search tab. If you have a question mark in the field, Legacy doesn't understand it and it thinks that you do have information. 2. Book reports can insert underlines for missing information only if the field is blank. 3. Chronology view can insert an underline for missing location so you can quickly tell that you need to find one! 4. Getting It Right by Mary Slawson indicates that when you don't have data, the fields should be left blank.
