I recommend leaving the fields blank when you don't have the information. Why?

1. Search has a "Missing Information" tab which will search fields for
blank information so you can find what you need to fill in. If you
have *anything* in that field, it won't show up in the search.

2. Book reports allow you to insert underlines for missing names, date
and locations. This is helpful for sharing reports with others for
them to help you "fill in the blanks".

3. Empty fields on the Individual and Family Group sheets catch the
eye - again, easier for someone else to help you out by filling in the
blanks.

4. Mary Slawson wrote in her book on standardization, "Getting it
Right", to leave unknown fields blank.

Sincerely,
Sherry
