Joan, As a UK user I would agree that Source Writer is in general OK for UK sources. However, be prepared to not enter details into fields which don't fit our system (or lack thereof). I suggest that you select the template which most closely describes the type of source which you are using, and then only enter data into the applicable fields.
There are exceptions to this in that there are specific templates for All UK censuses and BMDs, so be sure to select these when appropriate. I feel much more comfortable with the basic approach. Sourcewriter tries to make you make random choices ('Is it in a bound volume or loose sheets?' is an early either/or choice which has to be answered, and I am very uncomfortable with choosing either when I don't know the answer - & it also seems a strangely irrelevant initial question). I appreciate that folk are prepared to answer questions like this so promptly - many thanks. That saying, if you use the Sourcewriter, there is no requirement to fill in every box. Just fill in what you know about the source.
