If you don't find your ancestor on the first line of a census page, do you ignore the rest of the page?
I did tech support for years and there's a reason for the order of information in help files. If you're too impatient to at least skim the help file entry (note that I didn't say *read*), you're more likely to do damage with an unfamiliar command. If you don't know all that a feature can do, you probably shouldn't use it. The signal to noise ratio on the list has once again deteriorated to a level that's no longer worth my time to read (usually happens within a month or two after a major update). Don't bother to reply to this message - I'll be off the list before then. Odds are, there will be replies because few people read this far. > I am in total agreement, John! > > If I can't find the information at the beginning of the help page, why > would > I waste my time reading to the end of it? > > Cathy-0 > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "hwedhlor" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Tuesday, July 05, 2011 2:08 PM > Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy Help files that are not very helpful! > > > Pardon me, but that information should be _first_ on the > help screen, not last! > > John Zimmerman > Mesa, AZ > > > Legacy User Group guidelines: > http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp > Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: > http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ > Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: > http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ > Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp > Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and > on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com). > To unsubscribe: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/LegacyLists.asp > > > Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
