Terri,

Yes, they are different. A RIN is simply a number which Legacy allocates to an 
individual when the individual is added to the file. In actual fact the RINs 
are in the order in which an individual is added, i.e. the first individual has 
a RIN of 1, the second 2 and so on.

Thanks for the quick response!  It's very helpful.  I was afraid I'd start one 
way and then hours later realize I'd messed up.  ha!

Do I understand that the RIN is different from Ahnentafel numbers?  Ahnentafel 
numbers are what my uncle showed me years ago (and he's gone now).
