Robert, I am making a bit of a guess here as it is not an error which I have had. However, the inclusion of the 'File' classification is relatively new, prior to which PDFs, DOCs etc. were usually saved as a video file. Thus, if there was an error it would be in the Sound/Video Files. I wonder if, when the file class was added, the error message was not not updated?
I cannot, from the information given, suggest why the errors are happening, assuming of course that you do have a PDF Reader and Doc reader etc. installed on your PC. In the course of setting up events for my entries, I add a 'file' to the event, whether it be .xls, .doc, or .pdf as a multimedia item under 'detail' that I get from my scanned 'C:\Legacy\Docs\ source. I have never ever added a Sound or a Video to any detail or master source, so I cannot figure why the errors are showing as Sounds/Videos. Until a short time ago, when I ran the locations for multimedia, I had no errors. Just recently, when I run this feature, I get about 400 discrepancies and I cannot figure what occurred. Most of these are 'files' as opposed to pictures (i.e. ,pdf, ,doc, .xls) that show up as 'sound/video' errors. An example - '...Sound/Video: Individual Event: Source Detail: Alvin Weber ...'. Since I have never entered anything as a 'Sound/video' for any of my entries, why is this now an error? I've spent hours running different scenarios on my file and on one or more backup files. If I go into the individual's event, it will show the 'file' under the 'detail' but it will not appear if I select 'play'. If I re-install the event 'file' as a multimedia entry, the item will disappear from the error listing when I run the multimedia locations report. Anyone have an idea what I may have done to cause this? Has there been a program change recently that might have caused this to occur? I hate to re-visit all these discrepancies when I know not what caused it to occur, since I may be doomed to have a repeat of the same problem.
