You can delete it regardless (at least you could in V6). When you click 'Options | Delete Master Source' you will be prompted "Cannot delete source, it is being used. Would you like to view records that use it?". Click "Yes". Then, on the subsequent screen, click "Delete this Master Source and all Citations to it."
