Here are a couple examples. I put the year of birth/death to differentiate between people with the same name. Women are filed under their maiden name. Marriages are filed under the husband's name.
Simmons, Celia D. [1872-1943] Death Certificate Forrest Co, MS 23 Sep 1943 Glaentzer, Peter [1874-1940] Birth Certificate Köln, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany 14 Jan 1874 Lewis, John [1801-1880] Will Columbia Co, GA 20 Jun 1868 Miles, James Edward [1879-1950] Lewis, Eva Mae [1891-1969] Marriage License Columbia Co, GA 24 Dec 1908 Silas Simmons [1794-1856] Compiled Service Record, War of 1812 Morris, Needham William, Jr. [1859-1949] Family Bible [some things don't have locations because they aren’t applicable] With the labels in the upper right hand corner on the outside of the sheet protectors, I can flip through a book quickly since they are in alphabetical order. You could easily adapt this to the system Geoff described in the Legacy newsletter by adding a distinct file name to each document like Birth 001 and then you could put that in the file ID field in Legacy which would give you a cross reference. michele -----Original Message----- From: Tim Rosenlof Sent: Friday, September 02, 2011 11:05 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy News Archives----was: Source Name Filing System Michele, What is written on the label ?
