If something appears in a newspaper article or similar, I usually create an event to describe what happened and use a scan of the article in multimedia in the source detail.
I have a "general notes" event to cover things which simply don't fit anywhere else. As an example, I have an event saying that On <date>, the <newspaper> reported that she had played piano in a school concert on the previous Wednesday afternoon. The newspaper is the source and the article is the detail, complete with an image of the article.
