Please explain source verses event. I use "Missouri, St. Louis 1900 Federal Census" as a SOURCE. Then I attach it as a Census EVENT to each individual that is referenced in that event. I do not "add individuals that are not part of the family", but I do transcribe them. Am I understanding how you are using the Source? (This is an example only) Some sound like they make a new Source for each time they use it?
I do remember that each persons way is right, but I'm confused. On the SourceWriter field that asks for "ID of individual" I put "John Doe household". I do, however, include everyone in the household, whether servants, lodgers, visitors, etc. Sometimes these turn out to be family members, at which point I add them as individuals in my family file. I don't use "Census" Event either. I do use "Residence" event for everyone on the census, and if there is an occupation, I also do an "Occupation" event. I use the source clipboard to make it quick and easy.
