When you look at the File Menu, there are usually the last 4 opened files listed at the bottom so that you can quickly access them to open again. If there are less than 4 listed, when a new file is opened this should be added to the list, it should not replace one of the existing 4. I'm not sure whether this is a "Windows thing" or a "Legacy thing."
