Jacob, I take it that you mean you had created two new files (with new names) by saving modified Sample files. If when these are loaded you then delete them, they should be deleted from the Legacy/Data folder, and will not, therefore, show up on the list at File>Open Family File.
However (and I had not realised that you were talking about the list at the bottom of the File tab), the list at the bottom of the file tab does not seem to be updated until Legacy is closed. On reopening it will show the last 4 less any that have been deleted i.e. delete 2 and only 2 will show. I imagine that the reason for this is that once a file moves off this history list it's record is destroyed.
