Michele, This post jumps out at me because I thought you were working on certification (?) and needed to have the citations match the 'latest & greatest'...?
More specifically, I remember discussing the whole having to cite where you found the image online requirement here at LUG, and how that affected (at least for me) how I was "lumping" my census sources in the source master list. The reason then was that the images that are available online are not all of the same quality, and your transcription could actually be different, depending on which image (website) you used. At least, that's how I remember that thread going. But more recently, I have discovered that not every census is available at every website. (I was surprised, but goes to show I am still a novice at this genealogy work.) The 1930 census images are only at Ancestry (I think that's right... too many papers on my desk...), for example. So, I will probably keep indicating the website, so the researcher who comes after me knows where I did find the image... in case they use familysearch and I only found it at ancestry. I CAN do this with sourcewriter but I have to use a different template. I want to cut out all of the Ancestry.com info. With the info provided, anyone can look up this census page on FamilySearch, Ancestry.com, Heritage Quest etc. It doesn't matter. The point is to give the reader the info they need to find the source and this old citation is sufficient for that and it cuts out the fluff. I tried just deleting the Ancestry.com portion of the citation but that doesn't work because sourcewriter will not allow me to delete the default entry "digital images." (you CAN delete it but as soon as you save it, it pops right back in). This forces me to use a different template. I hope all of this makes sense.
