What about breakdowns for old locations? Genealogists are supposed record the names of locations as they were at the time of the event. I have ancestors from the Republic of Venice, before the Kingdom of Italy came into existence. Also from the Duchy of Lorraine before it became a province of France, and from places in Germany before it existed with that name.
