I agree. Well summed up, Carl.

I’m afraid we’ve moved into an age in Internet history when people now expect
everything for nothing. I’m happy to pay such a paltry amount for this upgrade
(for me in New Zealand, it’s probably half the buying power). I bought my de
Luxe edition, in I think 2008, so this major upgrade, let alone the usual minor
upgrades, has cost me around US$4 a year.

Long may it continue to thrive.

<< So far I can see very little reason to upgrade.>>

Legacy provides the best genealogy database I know of, and they ask so
little of me. They provide the free version for those who cannot afford
expensive software. They respond to our pleas for help. And I feel they
should be paid for their efforts.

Other programs update more often, and at higher prices. We get continual
free updates. The price for the upgrade is about like taking your family to
McDonalds. I think that years of excellent software is worth more than
McDonalds.

I could probably come up with more reasons.

So, although my resources are limited, and I don't go to McDonalds, I do
upgrade each time it is available.
