I have not been able to confirm this. When I tried to follow the steps you describe the event notes for the original person were not changed from those I entered before adding the share and creating the legatee role for the person who shared the event. The one thing you did not mention however is how you edited the event sentences for the role to "match the style of my customised Event Sentences" so I did not edit the role sentences.
If you tell me what your custom sentences use maybe i will be able to duplicate the problem.
