Crossover isn't free. It's the supported version of WINE and there's a charge for it, although Legacy users get a discount.
WINE is free.... but unsupported. http://www.winehq.org/ I don't know if it works with v8 - since Crossover doesn't at this time, I don't think WINE will work with Legacy.
