Title: Re: [LegacyUG] Google drive sync vs Dropbox & Legacy
Hello Ron,

Many of the cloud based drives will work fine for backup.  The best way to backup a Legacy database is to put the zip backup files on the cloud drive whether it be Google Drive, DropBox or others.  You can point the destination for the backup zip files directly to the cloud folder.  It is not a good idea to have the "live" files on the cloud drive.  Then when the need happens, you restore the Legacy database from the zip backup files.  This sequence also works great to send the file between computers.

At first glance your comments made me consider the option, doubly so since the zip files could be passworded.

Then the practical considerations of this hit home for me.  My media zip file currently stands at a bit over 1 gigs in size so waiting for this to upload each time would cost me a fortune, financially and in time; The data file would be bearable though.

Eventually the cloud will give us Encryption facilities I suppose, and I know there are standalone programs that'll do that for you now, but that'd be adding to the complexity to something that should be simple to operate.

But all food for thought Ron.

Thanks
Dave
