Brian:

You say that the 'Gather Media' copies the files them but does not move
them. If I have my pictures in C: drive under Family Genealogy in a file
'Fabyan Pictures,' will those stay there? And, if they do and I add pictures
to that file, should I run the Tools > Gather Media monthly (i.e., when I save
my files) or whenever to make sure that all of the pictures are in both files?

Legacy 8.0 has a new "Gather my Media" Tool that will gather all the
media linked to your file into one common folder (the default media
folder). That tool will be perfect for you to find media wherever it is
stored and copy it to the media folder.

Go To Tools > Gather Media to start the process. It can also create a
list of the media it copied. Note that it copies the files it does not
move them so the originals will remain where they were.
