This is an area that has not been programmed into Legacy (yet). It would be nice if the marriage record had a numberic field to record how many children were from the union. It could default to -1 to indicate that the value was never set. If the "number of children" is not -1, then the computer could tally the actual number in the database and compare it with the expected count to produce a Potential Problem alert. A zero should coincide with "This couple had no children" being checked. A census shows that there were 7 children with 4 living but the database only has 3...alert, 4 children are probably missing. An obituary shows 5 children but 6 are in the database...alert, more children recorded than source indicates. Many other combinations could be detected but the obvious one is the situation described by Brett in this thread. If the Legacy user does not want to use the feature, it would just be left at the default and bypassed by reports and exports. Ron Taylor
