Hi Nancy, When you install Dropbox's program on your computer, it creates a folder called Dropbox on your computer. It might be under My Documents (or equivalent), or it might be under your username - I'm not sure what the default is these days.
Any file or folder you put in that folder called Dropbox will be uploaded automatically to their servers. I subscribe to Dropbox, so have more than the free space (1TB plus the free space) and I keep *everything* of value to me within the Dropbox folder, including my Legacy files. You can keep your Legacy file anywhere on your computer - in the default place or somewhere else. Under Dropbox, I have a folder called Genealogy, where I also have more folders for all my family tree stuff, including one called Legacy Data - that's where I keep my Legacy files. As long as your computer is online, whatever is in Dropbox will synchronise with their servers automatically as they're updated or saved. If the computer is not online all the time, it will synchronise whatever needs to be when it is next online. If you have only the free Dropbox space to "play" with, you could choose to put EITHER your Legacy file OR the backup into Dropbox - save the rest of your free space for things that really matter to you. Either way, if you need to retrieve the copy from Dropbox at any stage, you've got an up-to-date file to work with.
